In addition to visual art, Sue Julien designs and constructs costumes for dance. Ms. Julien has designed costumes for performances at Buttenwieser Hall at the 92nd Street Y, Chen Dance Center, The Church presented by Upstate Production Services, BRIC, BAM’s Fishman Space, The Joyce Theater, The Howard Gilman Performance Space at Baryshnikov Arts Center, Danspace at St. Mark’s Church, Zipper Hall (The Colburn School, Los Angeles), Manhattan Movement & Arts Center, The Peter Jay Sharp Theater (The Juilliard School), DanceNow at Tisch Studios (New York University) and Dixon Place. Ms. Julien is part of a core team of collaborators with Esmé Boyce Dance and has also worked with director and choreographer Yara Travieso, Douglas Dunn and Dancers, Catherine Tharin Dance, Satellite Collective, Janis Brenner & Dancers and the singer Grace Weber.
